I know the rule. That wasn't even close to how you framed it in your original post I quoted. The route happened before Rodgers even threw the ball. It was a terrible call.

No it wasn't. He was still "running his route" when the ball was in the air. He was trying to create a natural pick but got too close and once the ball was thrown their was still contact being made. Offensive PI.

Everybody is so scared of a runback, but more times than not it seems they give up a FG when a team gets the ball at the 35. Nebraska did this shite at the end against MSU and it almost cost them (though it was a closer call there, I guess). Anything over 30 seconds like here, and it's asinine. At some point, if you can't defend a normal kick return, you don't deserve to win.

Yet a professional official who has actually called the game doesn't? They definitely make bad calls sometimes and throw too many flags but it was a legit penalty. It was an obvious pick.

Well I'm certainly not a Bears fan but y'all are the only two that butt hurt that a flag was thrown on a legit penalty. I actually have experience calling the game so yes I believe I'm a bit more experienced than arm chair officials.
