Glad you guys have some good stories of the bank catching shite.

After a visit to Korea a card of mine racked up its limit of 1500 across Asia they didn't flag a thing with it though.

I tried to order dominos from down the street, and it flags it.

Weird shite

Pretty simple algorithm actually. They do thousands of these a day.

I only use my ATM to withdraw cash. This is mostly a cash only country. Online purchases I only use my credit card. I don't really see any other way they got my information. I usually only use the ATM at one of my client's office because it's in a guarded compound. I used a different ATM machine today.

I asked them to put a freeze on my account and they told me there is nobody available today to do it because it's Thanksgiving.

The bank is US Bank.

I got one with a link too, and I don't bank with them either. It's definitely a scam.

Wow that doesn't sound right. May want to call back and get some more info from them. Surprised they don't have a operating Fraud dept today that could at least stop the bleeding.

Most atm cards have a $500-$1k daily limit. I think you're lying.

There's nothing they can do until the transaction posts.

It's very unfortunate.

I hear you Roger. The money will be replaced. Getting a new ATM card shipped here will be the real headache.

$3,000 or so is a typical daily limit for debit purchases.

You people are glossing over the fact that he lives in another country and has already likely had limits waived

Apparently that isn't the case with my bank today. Like I said before, I believe my bank has lifted some of my restrictions because I frequently take large sums of cash out in countries outside the US. Or it could just be a case of people monitoring their fried turkeys instead of bank accounts today.

I do have daily ATM withdrawal limits but they are higher than usual because I live international. I believe my daily ATM withdrawal limit is something around $1500 per day.

It looks to me like these may have been debit purchases and maybe they were taking out money with the purchases. I don't know. It's strange. It shows up as debit purchases but the amounts are all rounded off. $1500, $2,000, $3,000 etc.

ETA - Just checked again. They hit me for $10,600 over 6 transactions. I caught it after 2 went through and transferred everything out. The other 4 are pending.
