John Cooper's successor is the exception, so maybe we should hire Tressel.
He has 1 more year of sanctions left. If he went anywhere, he'd have to sit out the first 5 games, plus any championship and bowl games. That ends as of Jan 2017.
And, seriously, had that been over in 2016, I'd have him as choice 1-b. I'd call my big name choice, and let him know that Tressel would be the next call I make, too. I don't care about "Big 10" crap, he ran a solid program and would have excelled with SEC talent.
