I just got back from a week there yesterday (Orlando to sport in 14 hrs). We stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside and it was OK but I'm stuck up I guess. . I have been a few times during my life. Parents always took us a bunch, honeymooned there and have been 3 times since I've been married and stayed everywhere from the off site holiday inn to the contemporary. The past 2 trips (2006, 2014) I stayed at the Polynesian and the contemporary. Till this day, I don't think any resort there compares to the Polynesian. The pools at all the other resorts do not hold a candle next to theirs. The restaurants are exceptional and the rooms are nice and spacious.
Being on the monorail line is a blessing also. I do t think you really realize it until you stay there and then do the bus it hotels again. It's an awesome perk of staying at one of the 3.
If you plan it out right, you don't have to wait for much. In the week I was there, I didn't wait on a single ride due to fast passing and getting there early. It was a great time but an arse load of walking

I guess it all depends on what you want to go there an do. For us we all enjoy the rides. It doesn't pay to bring a 6 month old to disney if you are there for the rides. I wouldn't even base it on age, but height. If your kid is 40" or better 44" then they can get on just about every ride. I was shocked as hell to find out that my 6 year old girl was a ride junkie. Space mountain front seat no hands she couldn't get enough.
Disney is something you need a well thought out plan to enjoy. Fast passes, doing rides between 10-12pm, meal planning, etc.
Tusker house by far had the best breakfast though.
I also found out that besides the beer selection epcot center was by far the most boring place.

Polynesian is easily my favorite resort on property. Never stayed at the Contemporary or Grand Floridian, but we also LOVE Wilderness Lodge. Busing it places never really bothers me....but I do prefer a monorail ride when it can be had.
