They work great. I don't know why they call them "fryers" though.
You can cook a bird in 2.5 hours and get a juicy bird with crisp skin. I've done pork butts and chickens in mine as well.
It's nice to be able to free up the oven space.

The oven space freed up is a good benefit, but I can cook a 12 pound turkey in a 475 degree oven in about an 1.5 hours. Juicy and delicious. I'm not sure why anyone would want to cook a bird at low temp for a long time.
