And, for the record, this is not all that uncommon for a long-married couple, even somewhat younger. The stress of losing one finishes off the other. It makes sense for a couple that is close, as they generally eat the same food, have the same activity level, so their risk profiles merge and it becomes a matter of genetics over the long haul.

While women typically outlive their husbands, this kind of situation - as long as they're not too young, is kind of bittersweet in that it may be appropriate to really think of them together forever. They were married 56 years.

Sad, but seemingly fitting at the same time to go together.
