these are not as cost effective as one might believe.

now Mcdonalds is going to have to hire several engineers to ensure the machines work daily

plus, you still need a "regular" employee monitoring the functionality

they are in Europe for customer convenience, not to save McDonalds money

works for me. i'd be willing to pay more to avoid the "what the frick do you want" attitude.

For the machine to be cost effective, all it needs to do is cost less than $100,000 a year to buy and maintain.

This. I saw them in the one McDonalds in downtown Barcelona when I was there 3 years ago, and it seemed there were just as many workers behind the counter. The machines mainly reduced the length of the lines.
