for a January ski trip? I've been to Crested Butte the last 2 winters and really enjoyed it. I guess I'm just looking for a new experience.
(I've also been to Breck, Winter Park, Wolf Creek, and Red River, NM.)

Telluride's the best ski town in Colorado, but it's the hardest to get to and they like it that way.

They are really close in those regards. Telluride is beautiful but steamboat has more reliable snow? If early season go steamboat. Late season telluride is much better.

The pizza joint in Telluride is probably some of the best pies I've ever had.
Could have been my appetite while I was there, but it was awesome. Some really awesome bakeries too.

Telluride is a beautiful little town. Lovely place to visit.

man, that is a tough one....depends really on what you like better...
Telluride is a prettiest place with a pretty strong hippie vibe. can be damn hard to get to if the weather is bad...
Steamboat has managed to stick to its roots and keep the ranching vibe going...it is still basically a cowboy town, but the addition of the ski hill brought in enough tourism to make it a wonderful place to visit....where else in the world can you ski all day and watch a professional rodeo every night?
my favorite is Steamboat, but that is a biased view because I am a lot more familiar with it and find the cowboy vibe to be comforting....
you can't go wrong with either...
