The 7mm-08 is based on the 308 cartridge as are the 243 and 260 as well. It breaks down like this:
.243 = 6mm bullet
.260 = 6.5mm bullet
7mm = 7mm bullet
.308 = 7.62mm bullet
All share the same case and powder capacity (very close). So the smaller the bullet, the faster it will shoot and the less recoil it will have.
7mm-08 would be my choice out of these if you aren't a reloader. It will be easy to find and should be soft shooting enough for your kid.
My first deer was taken with a .260 Remington 700 FWIW.
