I think it means that I should not be proud of the fact that I became the first college graduate in my family, and paid for my tuition without help from any grants/student loans. And, add the fact that my parents were employed as a state trooper and a bank teller making very modest income, while raising 4 kids. I mean, I'm white...my family and I had it all handed to us because of our skin color!
