Looking for some direction where to begin this search. Now living in NYC but travel back home frequently.
Any advice, different options, or links to odd threads are much appreciated.
Thanks!

thinking start with a deer hunt?
Looking to escaping the city, enjoy some outdoors, and bringing some game meat back home.

Scout the land, look where the deer are, sit down wind from that spot, go before daylight, dont move around and keep your eyes peeled for movement. Be patient, if you see one take your time and make a good shot behind front shoulder. I could go on forever about things to do and not do. U gonna learn as u go. You dont just go in the woods and kill deer or turkey. Good luck

Best advice I can give you is to find someone you know who does it and ask them to take you.

I could give you all kind of specific...but the best thing that I can tell you is to find some folks who like the kind of hunting that you are wanting to do and get together with them....

Trying to find any info on hiring a guide perhaps? What were some options?
No gun, no experience. just looking at what is possible.

Easy.
Google: hunter education classes and go take one
Next, Google Catskills deer hunting guides. Should be pretty close to the city. Find out from the guide what you need to have and if they supply the license.
If not go buy the license. You're likely a little late this year for deer. Seasons about to start

Where is home?
I would think a guided hunt would be a pretty good start. Would probably be cheaper to hunt NY than LA, since you're a resident. But that's a guess.
I'm sure you'll need a hunter safety course where ever you go, so that would be a great start.
