For stalkers and brush shooting, it would be counterproductive to move around with a bolt gun. A bolt doesn't really start to shine until about 150 yards.

How many Louisiana deer are taken at 200 yards? 300 yards? 1 in 8? 1 in 10? Even from a stand, most shots are 75 to 125 yards - at most.
