Everyone's giving the guy a bunch of shite and debating whether it's a crime.
The bottom line if what he said is all true, that is a potentially fricked up situation especially if you have a family. The right thing to do was file a report in case it escalates.

I think that from the start, a lot of people were skeptical about the story and its "out of the blue" nature. OP certainly didn't help that with the cryptic responses he gave over and over until he finally disappeared.
He came here asking why nothing happened via the police and what more could be done. The answer is "nothing" given what he provided.
