There is no such thing as "brandishing a weapon" in Louisiana. That aside, putting one's hand on a holstered weapon is not brandishing weapon. Had he drawn the weapon and pointed it at him, it would arguably constitute an assault with a firearm, a misdemeanor.

Brandinshing a weapon is not a crime. LA is an open carry state. Having said that go get your own gun and hang it on the front porch.

Based on OP story, doesn't sound at all like he brandished anything. Even the OP said he "assumed" it was threatening. LOL, what does that even mean?
