What to use for home defense is a tricky question because it can be different things to different people. It's what you feel comfortable using that's best for you. If your ok with a 12 or 20 ga. shotgun, then use it. But if you're a female that's 5'2" and 105 lbs., a 12 or 20 ga. shotgun might not be the weapon you want to use. The main thing is to get something you can use effectively, take it to the range and practice, practice, practice....!!!

I have a couple of 9mm pistols (our CCW weapons)at our bedside but also have a Taurus Judge 5 shot Revolver that shoots 3" .410 shotgun shells and .45 Long Colt. The first shot is a .410 load especially made for home defense and the next 4 are .45 hollow point. Keep in mind that most home invasions and burglaries are at night and fought at close quarters.

Another important thing is to know the law as it pertains to home defense. Don't get arrested because you shot a burglar running away from you, even though, if you're like me, you'd like to.

Again, the main thing is to get something that you're comfortable with and not afraid of using, no matter what it is. If everyone would have a weapon for defense of our homes and family, and use them effectively, we'd have far fewer burglaries and home invasions...!!!

I have a sign on my front door that says "THIS IS NOT A GUN FREE ZONE"... I know I'm going to get a lot of flack on here but this is just my opinion.
