John kruk was on that show too
But the idea of athletes as hosts of a cable sports show started there; before then, players who became broadcasters were color analysts and pre game hosts, halftime hosts, etc.

ESPN in 2003 also hired Rush Limbaugh... and then fired him for making a controversial comment
