Cleveland Torso killer a.k.a Butcher of Kingsbury Run
Well over ten victims, all dismembered. Also possible victims near Pittburgh, New Castle, and Youngstown.
Elliot Ness in leadership position of Cleveland Police Dept. at the time of murders.
Killer was possibly connected to Black Dahlia.
Never solved.

They weren't camping. They lived there.
Those murders are pretty much solved. Both murderes are dead (Bo and Marty, the neighbors did it). Bo was under witness protection (mob), so the cops never presued the case. It was all a huge coverup. Very interesting case, though.
