I hear good things about the Colorado, but I want to wait a few years and see what issues they have.
I'm not familar with the 2016 Tacomas yet, but I have the last generation Tacoma and in 170,000 miles have not had a single engine or drivetrain issue, other than replacing the U-joints because they were clicking ($70 for all three)
I love it and it has held the value that I paid for it for the last four years (I bought it used - $9000, KBB 11,300 current)
The interior is a little cheap would be my biggest Tacoma complaint and the 4.0 is noisy on the top, took me a while to get used to that. I think because it's aluminum.
