I understand your point, and he did make a significant mistake.

That said, I'm an old Irishman. Once you do me a solid and live up to,your word, it's hard for me to abandon you if make a mistake. (Loyalty, etc)

I never saw the guy try to do anything but what was best for Louisiana in his elected capacity. FWIW, John Breaux was the same way. ("My vote isn't for sale, but it is for rent" , to help Louisiana.)
