About 10 to 12 years ago before the advent of paid parking and before tailgating became so corporatized I arrived on campus about 1:00 P.M. for a 7:00 game. I observed a vehicle back out from a parking spot in front of the memorial tower. I drove to the spot and began a right turn into the space.

As my car was about halfway into the spot at about a 45 degree angle several guys ran up and began beating on my car yelling the spot was reserved. I told them no such right existed and they began yelling and cursing that it was reserved for their friend who had to work until 4:00 P.M. I told them I intended to park there and requested they please move away.

As I began to slowly drive forward one of the guys jumped into his vehicle which was parked in the space to the left of the space I was entering and immediately drove into the space in front of me in an attempt to cut me off as I was driving forward. The left front corner of my car struck the right front fender of his car causing minor damage to his vehicle.

His wife then began angrily berating me for what I did to her car and the group began threatening me. I called campus police to the scene , and left the vehicles just as they were upon contact. The officer arrived and a judicial candidate who had set up a political campaign spot on the parade ground and was obviously friendly with the group attempted to intimidate the officer on their behalf. It almost worked until some people who were set up right in front of where the incident occurred came in and told the officer exactly what occurred forcing him to write the report accurately.

I hope you were not that guy. Its amazing the sense of entitlement some people seem to have.
