Lumping all Cubs fans in with the relatively few who "wanted to lynch Steve Bartman" is just as short-sighted as those who blamed Bartman for the loss. The difference is, emotions were running high for those fans when they acted irrationally. You've had 12 years to think about it, and you still came up with this really shitty thread.

A few fans? There did not appear to be a sympathetic soul in Chicago after Bartman's error. The poor dude must have been terrified and all thousands of people could do was attack him for weeks. It was truly shocking and revealed the dark side of human beings. Would he have been treated the same in other city instead of Chicago? I don't know. How would this have played out in New Orleans under similar circumstances? Atlanta? LA? I do know that Cubs fans and not just a few showed their arse bad after this happened. Instead of helping the dude up, they kept kicking him when he was down!

I know its not all of the Cubs fans but it became easy for me to root against this fan base after the treatment of Steve Bartman. And I commend him for staying above all of the cute gimmicky attempts to exploit his celebrity.
