All I am looking at a G26 does anyone else vmcarry this what are your thoughts on it and would it be a good dual carry (IWB and OWB) purpose gun?

I just bought a new G27 and am looking for an IWB. I have an OWB but I bought the G27 for CC so it has to go inside.

I was just about to start a thread asking for reccs for an IWB.

I have been carrying a G27 IWB for years. You will get plenty of exotic recommendations. This is what I use

Swanny,
I don't have a G26, but my first cc gun was a Springfield XD. I found out the hard way that a double stack mag gun like the XD (and by extension, the G26 as well) just didn't suit me for IWB. That may not be the case, though, for you. Only you can know that. Hopefully your experience will be different from mine and you'll find out beforehand whether or not the G26 suits you. . OTOH, carrying a double stack mag gun OWB may be different that IWB. I now IWB carry a number of single stack guns but I'm seriously looking at buying an OWB holster. If you do some research, you'll find a number of good looking holsters that can be used for both IWB and OWB.

I see this assumption a lot. And it may be the case for you. But with a good stiff belt, and a good holster that keeps the gun snug against your side, and slightly loose, dark (or patterned), untucked shirt, most people can carry OWB.

In the cooler months, anybody can manage OWB while wearing a vest, jacket or sweater.

OWB is more comfortable (for me), and allows a much quicker draw (for me). I carry a G19 OWB in a Comp-Tac Kydex holster -- 365 days/year, every minute I'm outside my home (except for places where CC is illegal). It's just not that hard to do.

However, people who insist on wearing tight, light colored shirts will have trouble with OWB - the outline of the gun will probably print through.

But if you want to carry IWB, just remember you're gonna have to buy pants that are two inches bigger in the waist, and buy a belt that's two more inches longer. (Rule of Thumb: If you're a size 30" waist, plan on 32" pants and a 34" belt).

People who have taken my class will tell you that they never realized I was carrying OWB for the entire class. And even when they knew where I was carrying, they still couldn't see the outline of the gun through my shirt. Again, it's just not that hard to dress around a "full sized" gun using a good OWB holster.

Which model holster do you use with the 19?

I use the Comp-Tac paddle holster. LINK

Most paddle hoslters (Uncle Mike, Blade Tech, et al) are a pain in the a$$ to put on and take off. And if you remove their little friction tabs, they fall off.

The Comp-Tac has special little "wings" molded into the paddle. Very secure, but also easy to remove.

The "best" feature (for me) is that I can wear it at 4:00 position when I'm walking around, to get the best concealment. But when I'm driving I can slide the holster to the 2:00 position and pull up my shirttail so that the gun is exposed and ready to use if I were to be carjacked.

Another "benefit" of the Comp-Tac holsters is that you can try one for 30 days and return it for a full refund if you don't like it.

They make dozens of different style holsters - you may find one you like better than the paddle holster. I've tried a ton of holsters -- but I've been wearing the paddle model for about 12 years now.

OWB doesn't mean exposed.

OWB open carry and concealed carry are different animals, no one will know you are carrying if you are doing it right.

Thanks for all the replies, I think I will primarily carry OWB. Unless I am working I don't usually tuck shirts in, and I don't want to buy a new wardrobe to IWB carry, just wanted to have the option with the 10rd mag that if I ever wanted to the G26 would be a good dual carry option.

For $30 on Amazon, I love my Outbags OWB holster. I don't like IWB - need bigger pants, slower to draw. I'm also not a fan of kydex holsters.

I mainly IWB the revolvers I carry. Right now I've got on a model 10 2 inch, but I also do carry large N-frames (.357 and .45 acp) IWB. I use a Simply Rugged holster with their belt.
You can do either one well- pick what is most comfortable for you and get a GOOD holster. The difference between a lousy one and a good one is night and day.

How do you like your Simply Rugged holster/belt? I've always liked the looks of their holsters since they remind me of my first ever holster, a "pancake" model made MANY years ago by Roy Baker, the originator of the "pancake" holster style.

The issue I (think) I have is that I wear a dress shirt (shirt and tie) to work. I may just get an IWB and OWB and try them both. Do you have any reccs for both, either?

1. Are you prohibited from wearing a coat/blazer/sweater ? If you're not OWB, is really simple (and effective).

2. Wearing an OWB holster w/ shirt tucked in and no jacket is trickier. But my secretaries will tell you that until they took my CCW class (one had been with me for 6 years at the time, the other for 17 years), neither knew I had been carrying concealed (OWB) every day, for years, at work.

3. Comp-Tac is a good starting point in your search for OWB & IWB. And there are plenty of good IWB holster manufacturers out there (Galco, Sparks, and Safariland come to mind, but there are many others). You'll have to experiment. Don't be surprised if you end up with a medium large box full of "rejects" before you're through.

4. You might even have to compromise with a pocket holster and/or an ankle holster. Both have drawbacks, but both can work with the attire you seem to be saddled with.

I live in Alabama, but no, not technically prohibited.

I figured this would be the case, trying to not spend the cost of the gun on the right holster.

There is a right answer to everything, I just haven't found it yet.

Very interested in carrying OWB, would you mind providing examples of your wardrobe and how you conceal? Pics would be awesome
Thanks
