Cardinals coach Mike Matheny has made history

This is Mike Matheny's fourth season managing since he succeeded the legendary Tony La Russa. Apparently, Matheny has the hang of this gig since he's making his fourth consecutive trip to the postseason. And in case you're wondering how many men in MLB history have led their teams to the postseason in each of their first four years managing, that would be none.
Until now.

Good job, best looking coach in baseball

First manager to coach a team that gives up 6 home runs in a post season game

One more game and we won't have to hear from you for months. Go Cubs!

Actually, the following stats are even better:
Cardinals have made the postseason in 9 of the past 12 years.
Cardinals have played in the World Series in 4 of the past 12 years.
I'll hang my hat on that any damn day!

Wrong. I'm living in the present. I mean, the Cards are in the postseason...right?

After today ole Mike may indeed be heading home for the winter, which if that happens I'll gladly root for the Cubs.
Like I've said since the Cubs/Pittsburgh play in game...I like seeing the Cubs in the playoffs. Truly it's a rare event. The Cubs are the Great White Buffalo of professional sports. If you blinked you missed it.
I'll gladly root for the Great White Buffalo because I may not see it happen for another 107 years.

You think I'm afraid of losing in the postseason? LOL.
We've been in the postseason 9 of the past 12 years and in the World Series 4 of the past 12 years.
Sure, I'll be disappointed if we don't advance. But I'll just expect us to be in the postseason next year and in another World Series at least once in the next five years.
It's just what the Cardinals routinely do.

For about 90 percent of baseball history, somewhere between 1/8 to 1/6 of all baseball teams reached the postseason.
Today, a MLB team has a 1 in 3 chance of making the postseason.
60 percent of the NL Central made the postseason this year. And one of the other 2 quit trying less than one month into the season.
This statistic means nothing.

Buncha downvoting bitches.
Mike is a great guy. Super nice. Raises nice kids. Great family. Any team would be lucky to have him represent them.
I didn't know if he had the chops to be a big league guy. But he's proven to be a pretty good manager.
