i'm not far from agreeing with that ... he is surrounded by oklahoma, nebraska, mizzou, and colorado ... gets a few from texas, but that's his region for recruiting, and there ain't much there ... and he competes with the big boys ... and beats em sometimes ... manhattan is 56000 ... in the middle of kansas ... ain't even got an interstate going through there ...
The only reason that town is as big as it is is because of Snyder. They named the damn highway from I-70 to the city limits after him.
I will say this though, Manhattan doesn't get enough credit for being a cool college town. I had a lot of fun while I was there.

Snyder.
The man literally took the absolute worst program in the nation and turned them into powerhouse. The only thing he hasn't done is win a title.
Hell,
Spurrier only won one title......the year he sucked it up and went and got.....Bill Snyder's defensive coordinator.
Bill.

As said, Bill Snyder and it's not even close. Amazing what he has done over the last 25 years. He turned them around fairly quickly also in the 90's.
Have to respect the kind of guys he did it with also. Blue collar dudes that were a step too slow or a few inches too short, but simply knew how to play football. My best friend graduated last year as a walk on turned captain at K-State and is the definition of the kind of players that have built K-State. Snyder is also a stern disciplinarian and old school coach. His MO wouldn't work well with major recruits, but resonates with the chip on the shoulder guys he goes after.
