Bad or not, the damn conference could still produce a national champion. Did they not have a team go 2 years in a row? Three teams have made the playoffs from the SLC each of the last 2 seasons, and could do it again this year. But yet the conference is bad?
How many other leagues have at least 3 teams make the playoffs each of the last 2 years? That would be 4 (Big Sky and Colonial both years, and OVC in 2013 and and MVC in 2014).
The bottom half may be bad, I've agreed with you on that. But to say the whole conference is bad because of that....can't agree with that. Maybe if one team makes it this year and flops. But when they have had 3 teams in the playoffs the last 2 years, and the conference champion played for 2 straight national titles the 2 years prior.....

So does having a top heavy conference make the overall product better in your opinion?
The SLC generally is very good, but this year has hit a downturn. I think you judge the conference's strength on the bottom rather than the top teams. If that makes sense.

And, as usual, 2 of the three teams that make are one and done, yet again. Hope it's not the Cowboys this season.
Not sure Southeastern gets in though.
