I think if it is a mental issue, do box squats in a power rack. Get use to the weight and work on the explosive part off the box without worrying about the bar since you have the rack.

Work on your core and deadlift as well. Also, consider pushing up on the bar with your arms like an overhead press to help your lower body get the weight. Squats are an entire body exercise.
