Marine Corp Veterans...Advice Appreciated

My 20 year old son is finishing his enlistment process today and Wednesday. When he ships out to boot camp is unknown, though a November date is possible. He's in good shape physically, and will continue to condition more.
Any words of wisdom or advice for him. Thanks

He needs to get done with his initial training and make it to his duty station before coming out of the closet.

My FIL is a Marine vet. When people ask him for advice about recruit training, he tells to be as unnoticed as possible.
