Because I like it like that?

There are harsh penalties for all sorts of chance-related plays in the NFL. Chance and luck is a part of the game.
If you like that much chance and luck, maybe you should watch people scratch off lotto tickets?

Don't be careless with the ball when you get near the endzone. Problem solved. Next topic.
The problem is the rule. You can't "solve" a problem with the rules by having players play differently.

ETA: I'm not going to waste any more time on this debate. You hate the rule. I don't mind it. Nothing is going to be accomplished by debating the shite out of it. Have a good day.
I guess we disagree here, as well. Because the ONLY way things get accomplished is by debating. The rule obviously won't be changed by a debate between you and I, but we can be part of the conversation. If you lack enough conviction in your position to defend or adequately explain it, then have a nice day.

Another way to look at it. The defense owns the endzone. If the ball is fumbled into and out of the defense's territory, it makes sense to me that they should control the ball.
And if the offense is backed up and fumbles out of their own endzone (which they own), the defense is rewarded with 2 points and possession. Does the defense own both endzones?
