Its not economics. Air france is not about to go out of business.
Its managing short term profits on the backs of workers. Its ok to do, but it impacts people's lives quite a bit. Managers should understand the impact of their action prior to taking actions. If they did, they likely would take different actions. I also feel confident those managers are giving themselves a nice bonus based off of this.

He's also flat out wrong. AF is losing almost a million Euro a day right now.
They're undergoing a massive (and necessary) strategic overhaul, and labor reconfiguration is a part of that. European airlines are a pretty shitty place to be right now, and they are taking it in the chin harder than most.
They are careening down a path of destruction pretty damn quickly. They'd go out of business sooner rather than later.

I'm flying to Paris in November, and I found at that Air France, on the TransAtlantic portion of the flight does not have WiFi.
