Dumb arse LSU Admins bought the pleas hook, line and sinker.
They hired Archer over Spurrier, Mike Shanahan and Sam Rigliano. (Saints)

Spurrier and Shanahan weren't exactly known commodities at that point and the thought was that Archer would keep the momentum going.
