LSU has a lot of talent at WR. Yes, there have been some drops, and that's going to happen. Every NFL team has drops. But, I think some of the inconsistency can be attributed to their lack of involvement. They still have to make those catches, but I think there could be an issue of them pressing somewhat when they get their chance to make a play. These guys are playmakers, and I'm sure many of them had high expectations about the contribution they would make this year.
Through four games, the receivers haven't really established a consistent rhythm with Harris. There have been some opportunities to establish that rhythm against four subpar Defenses:
Total Defense Rank (from ESPN)
Mississippi State - 70
Auburn - 93
Syracuse - 48
Eastern Michigan - 118
It's obvious that LSU doesn't have much confidence/trust in the passing game yet because at the times when these games were close, the go-to guy was Fournette.
There was an effort to get the passing game going vs. Eastern Michigan in the first half, but that just didn't happen for a variety of reasons (one of those reasons is that the offensive line has had some problems with pass pro), then it just became a ground attack only. The people who get excited about Fournette winning the Heisman may not like this idea, but I think it would be beneficial for the team in a number of ways (especially when looking at upcoming games vs. good SEC Defenses) to spread the ball around more to different players.
