And this attitude is why the crime continues to trickled into uptown.if u can nip it at its genius why should anyone think they are safer, especially with that cities geography. As long as the inner city is side by side with the country clubs in Nola, this will happen unless the rich and privilege start to give a damn (and the folks in the crime laden neighborhoods) about what goes on around them.
It's a challenge and perhaps people are too lazy, selfish, ego-centric ("I couldn't possibly be contributing to this problem, I pay taxes!"), ignorant to see it as such. It would be a very laborious and selfless effort to care more but ultimately, I think it would do more good.
I would rather Mitch help clean up the inner city first and help get it going on the right path before panicking and succumbing to some rich folks getting robbed. That doesn't address the root and only worsens the problem in the long run

I agree about nipping it at its genius, but damn I sure would like it if they put all the projects and section 8 out in the east.

Christ. This whole fricking post is exactly what is wrong with the inner-city mindset. No one can fix this but you. Your post is littered with an underlining hate for the "rich and privileged" and it's sickening. They're not forcing these shitty people to have kids and then not treat them like decent human beings so that they grow up to be shitty people themselves. What exactly do you propose to do to fix the inner city? Get going on the right path? WTF? It's up to the people to follow the right path. They can't and won't because it's all part of their culture.
Frankly, I don't fricking care when people kill each other ion the ghetto (whether it's central city, the east, lower 9th, etc). They chose that shite. They can stop it if they want to, but it's more fun to act like fricking animals and steal, deal, and take what they want. So frick them. Yes, it is more important when they start doing that shite in better neighborhoods and robbing businesses and their clients. Why? Because it just is. Because those people in those neighborhoods do not chose to live like animals and kill people and rob and steal.
And all this bullshite about how "we" need to create new industries and jobs - newsflash - the "people" doing shite like this don't want those jobs and people who give jobs usually don't want to give them jobs.
