Governments push this down their employee's throats as well. Was working for s client in SLED and their big boss was highly encouraging people to donate and implied it was tracked. Deduct box, almost.

Didn't seem above board.

Don't know if it is still the case, but when I was an officer in the Marines the Combined Federal Campaign was mandatory. Woe be it to any commander whose unit did not participate at 100%.

Now, my sheriff's office has a United Way campaign. I mark "$0" and turn it in.

I worked at Fed Ex in college. They did this as well. They'd have a big rally on a Friday night... had to come in an hour and a half early. They they'd give a splashy presentation and pass out cards with your "expected" payroll deduction amount. I checked the "0" box every year. Didn't like United Way then and don't like them now. If you want to support a charity, give your money to St. Jude.
