I found one of the roots of Jurgen's problems: it's actually the players' responsibility to coach themselves on the field.
quote:
On whether he’s upbeat about American soccer’s future …
“The amount the game is played now, and kids discovering soccer is their game, is definitely upbeat. The way the game is educated, told, driven, we are still far away from real soccer nations. The biggest educational problem is people think it’s a coaches’ game in the United States. It’s not. It’s a players’ game. There’s too much emphasis on telling people what to do. If the teaching part is too big, you will only have players who react to what the teacher or coache tells them. I am looking for personalities. I am looking for players that drive the game. I am looking for them to step itup and say they can do this. I hope to see more. No matter whether they are playing in Europe or Mexico or MLS, we hope to see more of them take the game in their hands, so now you go to the next level, wherever they play, we wish to have an influence on the way the game is being communicated. I purposely don’t say the way it’s being ‘taught.’ I say ‘being communicated.’ We need people to understand the players have to drive it, take initiative, make decisions and get it to another level, and then you [as a coach] are a guide on the outside and you can help. You need them to understand, ‘I can give you all the information I can, but I’m not going to score the goals for you. You have to go in there and beat the [heck] out of defenders and put the ball in the net and figure it out yourself.’

Dude just got done melting down over Vidal not passing it right where he wanted it.

Until AO starts protesting, nothing's going to be done about him. frick, even with protests, Gulati and Jurgy will probably just keep going on like nothing's wrong until we get so bad that we fail to qualify for a WC.

You think US Soccer gives a shite about AO?

I think they'd notice if their 'fan section' they've been bigging up for the last few years started 'Jurgy out' protests.

Yeah, you have no clue on how US Soccer operates.

Apparently you don't either. USSF is actually pretty receptive to fan opinion. I've emailed Gulati directly before and gotten a quick response back from the man himself.

If I remember correctly, he posted on the email on here, so...yeah.

Apparently US Soccer is the only sporting body that completely ignores their fan base. Tell me more

Who could they bring in that would be better on such a large stage?
Posted on 9/4/15 at 7:37 pm to tduecen
Probably a lot of people. I've come to the conclusion that my left nut is a better talent evaluator and game manager than Jurgen. The dude wanted to sell Muller when he was at Bayern, ffs.

But at the same time I could propose the argument that he didn't think he could reach his potential. How many has he gotten right vs wrong, of course the wrong ones stand out. Same with football and recruiting if a 5* becomes a bust it is a huge deal vs the many that become solid players.
