I need to see what happens once SEC play starts. When Les and his team are hunkered down against a quality opponent, will the alleged talk of the Pistol formation and Harris and his ability to throw it be more than just the talk we've heard incessantly each Fall Camp? Talk about everything from JJ9 looks like Montana to Zach Lee may unseat him to 2009's Les comment about, "this will be the best OL we've had since I've been here," type stuff.
In other words, stuff that has no basis in the reality we saw on the field?
Unfortunately, we won't see it vs. McNeese because Les thinks that by somehow locking down the offense he's saving State and Auburn from seeing what we'll do. Which means we won't have as much experience running the entire package since we'll be unfolding it against them for the first time.
Secondly, I want to see what happens once Brandon makes a mistake or forces a throw. What will Les' reaction be. Can he tolerate a kid's inexperience (that Les' largely responsible for anyway) and allow him to work through it and grow from it? We shall see.
Personally, the only way I'd believe if I were an LSU Fan whose kept up with this program under Miles is if I got some sort've smoke signal that Les was completely relinquishing the method he's devised for playcalling and gameplanning and allowing others to take the reigns in that respect.
I have heard of no such thing, so I'll have to see it to believe it
Great Post!!! I feel the same way as you!

ESPN talking heads caught wind of his progression and here we are.
This is the correct answer/ thread

I must have missed the "hate".
Now, there is a big difference between Top 15 and Top 4. That's just probably due to the respect some in the media have for the Miles body of work since 05 in the most powerful conference in the NCAA.

I think a few guys on their tours around the campuses this summer took a closer look and it was eye opening.

I think they realized that we finally have the missing piece to the puzzle....an average qb.

Not many of these guys would have footage or knowledge of what Lsu looks like in all the closed practices. Herbstreet might have a few sources dropping some small bits of info but there can't be any way some of the other talking heads have any idea what they are going with. I'm having a hard time discovering where this is coming from.
We talkin' bout practice man

You realize Les doesn't call the offense, right? We will look to execute our base offense that we will rely on for most of the season. That's what any team should do.
A lot of people are jumping to conclusions that we will play very vanilla. We travel on the road in the SEC very early on. We will look to communicate well up front on offense, have rhythm and tempo that we dictate, and execute.

Your posts are fricking horrible.

Harris went for 140 yds and 2 TDs vs. State last yr. in a sub role. You really think the State staff is not aware of what LSU can do with Harris at QB???

Can he tolerate a kid's inexperience
Did you not watch LSU football last Yr. How much more inexperienced can Harris be than last yr. and he started our 2nd SEC game of the yr.

You mean the LSU football program that ranks 2nd among Power 5 conferences for wins since 05 while playing in the SEC? Is that the one we have to worry bout game planning?
Like Miles or don't like him, but isn't he the HC who has guided LSU football to our most successful period in LSU history? That tells me that the man is certainly doing something right.

This.
"I’ve seen Harris throw and I think he’s got what it takes. It’s just a matter of whether or not he can read coverage or make good decisions and give them a threat throwing the ball down the field. Can you imagine if he does with the group of receivers they have, with that offensive line and that running back? LSU’s defense is always going to keep them in the game." - Kirk Herbstreit

He should. He had a front row seat to watch some horrific shite last year from the QB position. Harris should get the same benefit of the doubt that AJ got all last year.

Les showed Herbstreit the secret playbook last week. The rest is history!
