when registering a vehicle that you already owned

used goes by purchase price

I just bought a truck out of state and was charged taxes on the vehicle price minus my trade value.

Example.

Value: 30k
Trade: 15k
Diff: 15k
Taxes: 1.5k (10% on 15k)
