This is a complicated question. Is it better than LSU or Tulane? Hell no. When you weigh the costs to attend Loyola - about 5x Southern's tuition - and compare their bar passage rates, the waters get muddied. Unless you plan to practice in New Orleans or have family money, I would attend Southern over Loyola.
Also, Southern has a night program that takes 4 years to complete and costs about $4k/semester. That's the route I took because I worked 40-50 hours a week during school. All of the classmates I kept up with were gainfully employed at graduation (many were paralegals while attending).
I graduated Southern's night program damn near the bottom of my class and got a great job right out of school. That was 2011, considered one of the worst years for new lawyers.
