This topic intrigues me because I come from a tiny town in East Texas with a pop. of 4,900.
Let's see if this can blow your mind.
Jeff Traylor left Gilmer in February after 15 years as head coach to become an assistant football coach at the University of Texas at Austin. During his tenure at Gilmer, where his record was 175-26, his teams won state titles in 2004, 2009 and 2014, and also reached the state championship games in 2007 and 2012.
His salary was in excess of 150K (HFC and AD). Here is the kicker... his total football salaries - his and his assistants - was in excess of 700K.
