Is there criteria used to establish these stipend amounts?

The Cost of Attendance is computed by the Financial Aid Office and the Athletic Depts are not allowed to influence this. One other thing I did not think about is that this amount of money will have to paid to all student atheletes not just football.

I don't think MSU can keep it up being the 4th highest in the NCAA without suffering overall.

Is there that much of a discrepancy between LSU and Bama?

how do you figure they will suffer? It's just peanuts compared to what the athletic dept brings in. The more you spend on it, the better the athletes you bring in, the more you win, the more money the football program mAkes.

If Miss St is paying the 4th highest amount in the NCAA that is a pretty smart move. They should pay the#1 highest amount so that their football program will move up the rankings and bring in more income. If it is to costly because you have to pay all athletes the same amount then you cut out some of your non income making sports so that you will have less athletes to pay.

just looked at the article. Miss ST is not #4 but Auburn is #1 and Bama is not listed, but Bama is the same amount as Auburn according to the times-picayune.
