siap searched and couldn't find answer. Schedule says this game will be on SEC alternative, will that be cox channel 83? or is this strictly a watch ESPN app game?

SEC Alternative is usually channel(s) right above sec network, so yes 83/84 (1083/1084 digital)

What about on dish? I have 408 sec network but don't know that I have ever seen a alternate channel

SEC network is on channel 404 on dish, they have 3 channels, one main, and 2 alternates. this game will NOT be on one of these. It will be on SEC plus, which is the internet. I've never seen anything on a alternate channel.

The watch ESPN App should be able to play this game, correct?

ONLY if you have SEC network at home.

The Alt channels for the SEC Network on Dish, did in fact show games last year (Texas A&M Lamar is one that comes to mind). LSU v.s. Mcneese will be on the SEC Alt on 9/5 as will several other games.
The Alt Sec channels however do not seem to serve any other purpose on Dish as they did not offer alternate programming during any other sports season within the SEC.

it's confirmed that it will be on TV, not only the internet. It will be on SEC Alternate which is one of the overflow TV channels that SEC uses.
