It's rather funny/impressive the clout Nellie had in her day. Local politicians consulted her, the garden clubs respected her,at least publicly.

Whats interesting is that was a well known band at the time. Shows you what kind of places Duke and the like would have to play at when if they were as famous today, we would be paying lots of money to see them at Carnegie Hall.

That wasn't even the original miss Nellie. She would ride around town in a big lincoln with a car full of girls. The guy she was arguing with was a black guy. He was mad because she wouldn't allow him in there.
