Great show. Col. Carrillo is easily my favorite character in the 1st season. Dude is a bad-arse.

I agree this was a great show. Didn't even mind the sub titles made it feel more organic.

I'm a fan of all sub-titles where it doesn't make sense for English to be spoken.
!!POTENTIAL NEXT SEASON SPOILERS!?
I was surprised how the season ended. At the rate it was going I thought it was going to show the full fate of Pablo Escobar. I really don't know too many of the details of his story, just the basic stuff. But I know how it ends, and it was going at such a pace I thought it was going to be a 1 season mini series type thing.

Didn't realize how much i liked it until i watched the season finale of Tyrant between binge watching Narcos. Tyrant is the exact opposite; takes place in the middle east and is almost entirely in english. Feels weird in comparison.

Same here. Figured season two was either gonna be life after pablo or like True Detective where they just pick a different Narco in another country to follow. I like where they left it. Can't wait for season two.

Am I the only who finds the narrator annoying? I hope it has stopped because that aspect made me quit watching half way through episode 1.

Watched the first two episodes. Not blown away but its good enough to warrant continued watching.

Seems like you gave it a fair shot.

Enough for me to know the voiceover trash disrupt the flow IMO. To each his own.

The voice over writing did get bad at times. I remember one line that was sooooo terrible. "Maybe that's why the bad guys win: They are willing to do things the good guys aren't."
Really?
Anyway, I loved it. Pedro Pascal and the guy who played Escobar were outstanding.
Also, this is a little thing and I get why they did it, but spending 10 hours having to be locked in on the screen due to 80% of the series being subtitled was a lot of damn effort. When working through a series like this, I would normally have it on while doing work or something and still keep up with everything looking back and forth. You have to keep your eyes on the screen for this show.

They had the gen2 suburban a little early too but I let that slide.
Only one more to go.
That private prison was nice and I didn't know about the plane bombing.

Also a post 1995 BMW 5 series as well. Hood was way too rounded for an early 90s late 80s model.
Wish they would have started earlier in Pablo's life and when things were smaller. Seems it went a little fast but the show still kicked arse.
Maybe they just move onto the Cali Cartel after Pablo gets killed?

I'm only half way through the show and started watching it the weekend before this past one. I've been watching it only on weekends though. Over half of the dialogue being spoken in Spanish requires a lot of my attention and I usually watch 1-2 episodes at a time (and the episodes are content heavy). This isn't a show that you can half-pay attention to, but it's still a great show.

Yeah I was wondering if they're going to take the True Detective approach and focus on different drug lords/cartel leaders each season.
Posted on 9/9/15 at 10:42 am to ladytiger118
I think they'll continue the story. They closed the first season with leaving more to be desired. Maybe this one will all be about the hunt to find Pablo and the Cali cartel. Either way, I'm pumped for season 2. This may be my favorite Netflix series.

I bet they explore how the Cali Cartel funded Los Peps (People persecuted by Pablo Escobar) who went on to with the search block kill pablo and destroy the Medellin cartel, and a member of Los Pepes takes over and then rivals the Cali cartel.
A lot of behind the scenes stuff. Like That it's rumored the CIA worked with the Cali cartel that whole time, and went after only Escobar as he couldn't be controlled.

Funny how people can have such different reactions to the same thing. I loved the narrating and part of the reason I was hooked so easily was because of it. I like the style and the guys voice is easy to listen to.

I think that there is so much happening and so many different things covered that the narrator is really a necessity.

Netflix is doing a great job of putting out solid shows, but I wouldn't classify any of them great. House of Cards, OITNB, Arrested Development, and now Narcos were all worth watching but in 10 years nobody will talk of them in the same sentence as Sopranos, The Wire, Six Feet Under, and Boardwalk Empire (only comparing to HBO shows).
I still appreciate what they are doing though, better than 99% of what is on the networks right now.

As far as Narcos goes, I'm 6 eps in, the plane just blew up with that young kid in his new jacket. I am really digging it so far, the scenery and hot Colombian chicas are probably my favorite part so far. The story is moving along but I'm not really invested in any of the characters. Subtitles make it hard to watch the characters and the acting as easily. I was too young to be aware of these events as they were happening so it is cool to learn the history of the cartels. I had no idea how much CASH cocaine was bringing, something like 300 BILLION a year. My nose has been itching like a motherfricker watching this show.
