He's not a very physically gifted guy. AJ is a terrible quarterback and has no business starting for an upper tier SEC school.
THis. His running instincts are below average and not really teachable. He's decently fast, but not really much more than average. Can't teach that.
His arm strength is pretty weak for a D1 prospect. Not sure how the staff missed that in evaluating him. Can't teach that.
The only thing he can improve on is reading the defenses and his accuracy, which are his two most glaring weaknesses at this point in his career. People act like fans are ridiculous for not expecting much improvement.

The A&M game was probably about AJ's ceiling and that performance was 12/21 107 yds 1 TD 1 INT
On his best days, he's an average game manager.

I expect improvement, but the problem is what you already said... Harris' inability to supplant AJ. Obviously, AJ is at his best is an average QB. All the things you said... Arm strength is average, speed average and decision making is average. If Harris can't win the job with elite arm strength and good speed, then his inability to learn and be coached is extremely poor. I really think the coaches know it's Harris' job, but want him to stay hungry and vigilant throughout camp. I suspect he will be named the starter publicly a couple weeks before the season starts.
