You dont have to notify the police officer unless the firearm is on you.

I have always, and will always, step out of the vehicle when pulled over. I have heard different stances from different buddies in different branches of law enforcement on that subject, but me - i step out of the truck w liscense, registration & proof of insurance. It is close by and i can reach them very quickly.

it's been ages since i've been pulled over. Have not been pulled over since purchasing my pistol but will get out with papers for vehicle in hand and notify the officer of the weapon that i keep mounted between my seat and console.
No reason to tell him but no reason not to as well.

I have had cops draw down on me twice for getting out. I have gotten pulled over a lot, so now I just sit back and wait for them to come to me.

Moral of the story is don't get out unless they tell you to.

I tell them if I have my gun on me (obviously) or if it is visible in my truck. 99% of the cops I have told, couldn't care less

You don't do ANYTHING unless told. You don't step out, you don't go grabbing for papers, you sit still hands on the wheel and wait for instructions.

i've been let go after getting pulled over for speeding when i notified cop i had a gun in my car, i guess he thought i was a responsible white boy
