yea, chromebooks are perfect for those needs.
there are shitty ones, however, so make sure you get one above walmart standards.
i have this one LINK and i much prefer it browsing over my macbook air fwiw; awesome speakers and 1080p screen make it an enjoyable experience

I have the "full HD" version of the Toshiba Chromebook 2 and couldn't be happier with it. Much better browsing experience than any tablet I have used.
I was down to this and a $800-900 Surface Pro. So so glad I went with the Chromebook.
