doesn't losing to an OOC school in a bowl end that though?
Of course not, that doesn't fit.

Well maybe the fbs schools should just pay the NCAA a flat amount, say 800k to supplement the FCS and not schedule them. Fans get better games, FCS survive and everybody wins

Why are so many staunch, republican, conservatives in favor of giving these poverty schools charity?
Really fricking amusing, I must say

When if comes down to it. I have no problem with FBS schools playing FCS schools. They provide money for their athletic programs and at the end of the day, what truly is the difference between Alabama playing someone like Wyoming and north dakota state?

I'm sick of rent a wins. Maybe the schedule should be pared down to what it was in the 70's if we're going to have these worthless games.

it doesn't make a difference to me... just games on a college football schedule and not the ones i want to see lol

I'm completely against playing these schools and always have been. Most recently, watching Ohio State's third and fourth string put 76 on FAMU was embarrassing. No one wants to see that, players, coaches, fans, alumni, etc. The only "good" to come from it is the smaller schools get money. If that paycheck is the only thing keeping their programs alive, let them fail. I don't feel sorry for them. There are plenty of programs doing just fine without it.

Id just rather P5 vs P5
Never understood why we get only 12 games per year and typically 3 of them are against teams who feature "athletes" who can barely walk and chew gum at the same time.

what gets me is how some FBS schools lose to FCS... are they really actually starting the waterboys?
Posted on 8/1/15 at 10:32 am to RogerTheShrubber
Eh, it really doesn't bug me. Im more interested in going into a 9 game conference schedule with one guranteed P5 OOC game
Posted on 8/1/15 at 10:34 am to DisplacedBuckeye
But how would that change if you were to schedule like San Jose state? Eliminating FCS games isn't the issue, it's eliminating games against non P5 schools, and I personally don't agree with it. I'd like the SEC to get to 9 games and have one set OOC P5 game every year
Posted on 8/1/15 at 10:42 am to WestCoastAg
Simple solution is to just require 10 game minimum vs P5 to qualify for playoffs.
Conferences can decide if they want to do 9 conference games or not.

fair enough
but if you play 9 games in the conference and then a conference championship, you don't have to schedule anyone out of conference
so I say 11

I'd love for Tulane to get some Big Ten teams on their slate.
That would be cool. I think some big ten teams would do a home and home with Tulane. I would think programs like Indiana, Illinois, Rutgers, would do that in that they can schedule a decent non P5 school and have 7 home games a year by smart scheduling.
I also would like to see Tulane come up to Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State, and Michigan.

I don't like the idea of playing FCS teams since the level of competition is so vast. The reason why Appy State beating Michigan was such a big deal was because of that. Eastern Michigan beating Michigan would not nearly be as big of a story.
As an LSU fan I can live with playing LaTech and USL, and Northeastern Louisiana if they are FBS teams since there is a better level of competitiveness in the scholarships though the tv and bowl money and ticket revenue are vastly different they is a level playing field.
FCS teams have fewer scholarships and they level of revenue from tv, bowls, and so on is much, much lower. It makes a farce out of the game.
It's bad enough when schools like LSU and Alabama and Ohio State rent a win against MAC and Sunbelt schools but at least the playing field is more level than games against Nicholls St.

if you want to be considered for the semifinalist slots, you have to say so two seasons in advance. If you do, you will be told two other power 5 teams you have to play, HOME AND HOME beginning two season from then. The names of the teams wanting to be considered for the semis are then put in a hat and random draws occur. Coin flip decides who gets home first.

Michigan is just scared of the Appalachian States of the world

There is a large gap in talent between Northwestern State and San Jose State. San Jose State isn't overly impressive, but at least they're winning bowl games, while Northwestern State went 0-11 in the FCS not long ago.

Isn't LSU required by the LA government to play instate schools? It's a way for them to force LSU to supplement their athletic programs.
