if it all came out at once people would sign up for a weekend and watch them all and cancel.
See, I don't think so. Netflix is proving this to be completely untrue. I signed up for Netflix for Daredevil for the free month with the idea that I would cancel after I watched it. I still have it and wouldn't give it up for the world. They have a weekly show on it that sucks, but other than that, if all of their shows went to week to week, I would cancel.

Also for some shows I think watching weekly and trying to figure it out is part of the experience. Being on Twitter during or here right after GOT airs works cos we all watch it at the same time, when HOC comes out it doesn't get the same buzz or feeling cos we all watch at a different pace.
This is understandable and really a matter of opinion. I think for shows with 6-12 episodes a season that are not procedural should be released as a whole and then discussed. You can talk about each episode as you go, or just wait and talk about the entire thing after you watch the season. For me it's more important and a better "experience" to watch them all together. Better to have a good viewing experience than a better discussion experience, and I don't even think it would necessarily be a better discussion experience. That's just my opinion.

I just don't get why we should HAVE to watch them week to week. If people want to watch it week to week, fine. But I think things are starting to change for the better. Now HBO is coming out and saying this. The fact is, if the show is better watched as a whole, then release it that way. Don't design shows that are better fit for a certain structure then not follow that structure. Just my opinion.
