An underrated song among my generation. I did a breakdown with my students on this song at the end of the course last year. It went really well. But it has been 25 years since the original, think he could do an update?

Do you mean he should rewrite the song? I'm confused?

Did he start a forest fire or something??

"Come on, man. Play something from The Stranger!"
"We strictly do '80s Joel music, Sir."

No, I'm pulling for retirement.

Saw him at Bonnaroo and he put on the most disappointing, underwhelming show I've ever been to. Ended 45 minutes early and just was meh, and this is coming from a BJ fan. One of the comedians at the comedy tentdid an updated version of We didn't start the fire and it was pretty solid.

He's never shown any acumen for managing his money. He will work until he dies or is simply no longer capable of performing.

Why would any legend act retire?
A Billy Joel, Elton John, etc... can make a million or more per show (more for private events) and still be able to have 90% of their year free to fish, drive motorcycles, or collect chimpanzees. Plus most of them have large crews and backing musicians who they still feel necessary to help make a living. So you work say 30 days a year and make 15-20 million?
Why wouldnt someone continue doing that? I guarantee you if Drew Brees could figure out to still get paid NFL salary every year after he retires, he would.
ETA: Plus there is absolutely zero pressure to record new songs. No one wants to hear a legend act's new stuff.

I had a high school teacher who made us write lyrics from the year we were born up to the current year or something. No clue where that one went.

Holy God, how I hate that song.

I think I like two Billy Joel songs.

He's absolutely one of the most overrated musical names in the history of the universe. Talented? Yes. Worth remaking a cheesedick song about history into a part II? Kanye and Lil Wayne would do such. I highly doubt BJ would. Then again, he is a nutball.

The first one is more than enough, thank you.
