I'm pretty sure the people hating Lex are in the 50+ crowd who think everyone powerful and successful should look like they're from Mad Men.
Fact is that most of our current New Money Billionaires look like Zuckerberg and Musk.
I'd say you're pretty wrong on that. If you want to turn Lex into simply a nerd who is a clear Zuckerberg rip-off, that's fine but it's not who Lex Luthor as a character is. Lex isn't Don Draper in just obsessing with cash, but really seeing himself as the champion of humanity and seeks to build a better and brighter world. He's just a heavily corrupt idealist willing to go through brutal means to make sure these ideals are a reality.
This is more how I imagine Luthor: All Star Superman

I think the essence of a character, in this case Lex, can still very much align with the source material while having a different presentation (i.e. attire).
Example - Heath Ledger's non-perma white skin was a clear deviation from how the character was presented, but his Joker was the closest live action tribute to the source material.

And who is to say this version of Lex Luthor isn't the same?
I wasn't a fan of the Jesse Eisenberg casting and am still not. However, these characters are not set in stone. You can do with them what you will so long as basic character traits remain. I don't mind the fact that they made Luthor into a young, hipster CEO so long as it fits the story and the universe they will be creating.

I never typed anything about his motives or personality. Just that people hate his look, and his look is spot on for a modern ultra-billionaire.

If that's what lex is supposed to be, then they should've cast this guy-
