All these mouth breathers who are so upset yet never before this story have never done anything whatsoever regarding conservation yet attempt to out outrage the other.
Hunting and Hunters do more for conservation than anything else. This was a mistake by the hunter and illegal activity by the guides and land owners. Sometimes people are arse holes and do bad stuff. Doesn't change that these hunts in Africa if done correctly are needed and help conservation through pop. Control and monetary resources.

am a part of multiple conservation associations and agree 100%. If hunting lions was so detremental to their numbers, then ALL hunts would be illegal. African big game and exotic hunting is arguably the pinnacle of conservation awareness.

I may agree, but then there's this:

According to U.S. court records, Palmer pleaded guilty in 2008 to making false statements to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service about a black bear he fatally shot in western Wisconsin. Palmer had a permit to hunt but shot the animal outside the authorized zone in 2006, then tried to pass it off as being killed elsewhere, according to court documents. He was given one year probation and fined nearly $3,000

How do you figure? The lion had a collar, they attempted to destroy the GPS device, and they abandoned the carcass. He's also served a year of probation for doing almost the same thing in the States. He knew full well what was going on. Probably didn't want some sickly old lion mount and had to have one in his prime.
